Mental health support services

Enable was set up in 2008 by Debbie Boyes. Debbie is a Mental Health Nurse with more than 25 years’ experience in working with people with a range of mental health problems. In her NHS career, Debbie worked as a Specialist Nurse in Mental Health and developed and managed various teams including Assertive Outreach, Early Intervention in Psychosis and Home Treatment.

Sue Marshall also has many years’ experience working with people with serious mental health needs and brings her carer experience to her role – Head of Care Services.

Debbie and Sue are both passionate about the rights of people with mental health needs to access high quality support and care; the service was set up to achieve this.

Our knowledge, experience and commitment enable us to provide specialised support to people with the most complex mental health needs within the Recovery model. We train and support our staff to build effective relationships with our clients, aimed at engaging, supporting and enabling them.

Complex Needs

Complex needs service

Using our communication skills and our commitment to individualised support, we work in small teams with people with other types of complex need – such as Asperger’s Syndrome, Learning Disability and Acquired Brain Injury.

We use a Strengths model – working with our clients to enable them to enjoy maximum choice and control and making sure we listen to their needs and wishes – in the various ways that they communicate these to us.

Support for older people
at home

We work with older people needing support to stay at home. This can range from one, short visit per day to much more frequent or longer visits. We know how important it is for all our clients to build relationships with the staff supporting them and to know when and who is visiting each day. We work hard to provide consistent support, in small teams and we always ensure clients know who is coming to visit and at what time.

We are regulated by the Care Quality Commission and as with all our care and support, work with this client group can involve help with managing medication, preparing meals and with personal care.

It can also include social support and companionship – we work around each person’s needs.
