Apprenticeships

We offer apprenticeship schemes to our staff so they can kick-start their career and work towards the qualifications needed to be a certified support worker

We offer fully funded apprenticeship schemes which allow our employees to earn while they learn and gain experience on-the-job. Qualifications including National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) and diplomas can be completed alongside employment at Enable Support Services.

Lily - Enable Support Services

Lily’s apprenticeship story

Lily joined us as an apprentice after realising she didn’t suit learning in a classroom environment at her sixth form college. Lily wanted to work towards her qualifications through an apprenticeship.

“My name is Lily, and I am an apprentice support worker at Enable Support Services. I started my apprenticeship in November 2022. I am currently working towards my Level Two Adult Care Diploma.

Before I started at Enable Support Services, I was at college studying animal care. It was something I had always wanted to do. However, when I started, I found I wasn’t enjoying my course as much as I had hoped and I knew that it wasn’t for me.

At school, I struggled with my attendance and learning. I never liked sitting and learning – I always wanted to be moving and talking. In my last year of school right before my exams I was told I had dyslexia. This helped me realise why I sometimes struggled to understand or concentrate.

When I started at Enable Support Services, I felt like I settled in straight away and got to grips with the role quite quickly. I am thankful to the team for taking me on and believing in me. The managers are extremely supportive and easy to talk to. The support workers that I work alongside have welcomed me with open arms and the work they do is amazing.

An apprenticeship is an amazing way to learn, especially for people like me who struggle to learn in a classroom setting. Learning is fun once you find your own way of doing it. It’s a great way to step out of your comfort zone and push yourself.

Enable Support Services has also helped me figure out what I want to do with my life. As I have grown up with mental health issues, a lot of my friends and family have struggled to know how to help. This role has shown me different ways you can help and support those who are struggling. It doesn’t feel anything like a job – it feels like a reward watching clients improve their mental health and get better.

My role within the service has taught me that there are always things to look forward to in life and that everyone needs support in different ways. I am so lucky to be a part of the amazing work they do for people and I am proud to be a part of the service.”
