Promoting client independence

Promoting client independence

A client of ours has recently started volunteering at a local placement which is something they decided to do independently and from their own initiative. Being able to support clients with their personal hobbies, activities and interests is at the heart of what we do so we were thrilled to hear about this news.

The client initially wanted to take part in volunteering to fill their day and engage with the local community. Enable supported them in finding a place locally, and we accompanied the client to view a community garden in Compton Dundon.

Finding the placement was a fantastic achievement for the client and they were enthusiastic to get started. We supported them to find bus times so they could get to their placement independently in a way that worked for them.

The client enjoyed their work so much that they are now attending every Monday, getting to and from the community garden on their own.

We’re so pleased to hear of this client’s success. Promoting our clients’  independence is central to our work, whether we support them in their own homes or in our supported living service.

We work alongside them so they can achieve their own personal goals, enabling them to lead fulfilling, happy and independent lives.
